Well it has certainly been an interesting week on the Markets and this is how we see it at the sharp end. First of all with regards to the UK, the FTSE and of course Lloyds Bank, where do we stand?

Well to be honest one never knows exactly with these sort of shenanigans going on but here is an educated guess from the Trading with Common Sense Team.

I think most experts are in accordance with the fact that no one knows exactly how deep the hole is at HBOS (possibly even the HBOS management don’t know which is really worrying) but for a certainty I would bet that the LloydsTSB Hierarchy don’t know and that is what is causing the distress and uncertainty at the moment.

Regarding one of our “2 Sure Fire Winning Strategies” I hope those of you who had downloaded the free report in time took action as there was a nice range of about 40 odd points to aim at and there were profits to be had certainly. I know we didn’t make as much as we could have but the news caught everyone on the hop and I guess that was what added to the confusion and mark down amongst Traders.

Where to next? Well for those adventurous amongst us there has to be the rather enticing prospect of at least some sort of “dead cat bounce” so perhaps a long bought in the 50-55 pence region and then aim for a quick and dirty 10 points or so and get out when it hits the 60 pence region. If nothing else this could certainly help pay for this years family summer holiday and leave the rest of the bounce or so to the “deep pocket brigade”. I always advise on something like this to set your target, aim, fire and then get out before the shouting starts so to speak and also whilst still in profit.

Why do I think there is going to be some sort of “dead cat bounce”?

Well the logic goes as this. Firstly yes there is a hole; we don’t know how deep (possibly as I’ve said the management don’t either) but you can bet the top level management at Lloyds are going to be “working their butts off” to come out with some sort of positive news campaign to reassure the markets. How successful remains to be seen but they will definitely have to try and then let’s see what effect this has. There has to be some and the longevity of this approach depends upon how much “spin goodwill” credits the management team have with the media. I think they have more than most people realise and this is tied into my next viewpoint as to whether the rumours abounding about bank nationalisation are to be taken seriously.

I think Lloyds Banking Group and the entire Banking sector are going to need more cash as we have the full effect of the Alt-A fiasco to percolate through and most of this won’t emerge until after the first quarter of 2009. Secondly this will hit the banks hard but possibly not Lloyds as much as the rest as they were by and large (apart from HBOS) fairly immune to these sorts of transactions prior to the whole banking crisis starting.

Secondly to nationalise Lloyds Banking Group would be a massive act of bad faith on behalf of the UK Government as they did…….er …ask Lloyds to step in as a “White Knight” to rescue HBOS in the first place and to then “nick their shares” and shaft them afterward for being so obliging in the first place would basically send a notice out to the markets that UK Govt Plc (especially Mssrs Brown and Darling) are not to be trusted ever again.

There will be a fudge (there always is, as that is what us Brits are experts in) and some sort of accounting “jiggery pokery” will take place but that is all. The share Price of Lloyds has been in this sort of range before and the key thing is that LloydsTSB via its retail banking operations is sitting on large piles of cash so Aunt Sals and Grannies annuities are safe for the foreseeable future.

With regards to the markets then it would appear that at the moment with the FTSE we have possibly reached one of the those “cusp” moments where it could so easily go either way. The fact that the market has remained so positive throughout the plethora of bad news since Christmas is indeed a positive thing and one that gives most bulls confidence but….(isn’t there always a but?) we have now come bang up against the trend line that has been in force since Christmas and the key level to watch is an end of day close below the 4,100 level. Below that and you would expect another test of the Oct / Nov lows but it has to be stressed how resilient the FTSE has performed as of late and so nothing it would seem is a done deal yet. It would appear that it is likely to take something major to take the FTSE down again (perhaps another partial Banking meltdown) and so performance this week with reporting underway is crucial.

In the US, the next leg down is perhaps already underway and the DOW is only effectively around 300 points away from breaking historic intraday lows but again with new information surrounding the Obama Rescue package out this week, don’t necessarily bet on new lows being established this week as volatility appears to be the order of the day and this could see fairly violent swings either way.

All this adds up to terrific conditions as far as the Market Trader are concerned with plenty of action to be had both up and down and that as Traders are concerned is all we can ask for.

Day Trading in either Futures or Forex is much simpler than you think if you knew where to look and for those interested then sign up to the list on our “2 sure fire strategies” list for firstly to get our two free strategy gifts but also to be put on the waiting list for our Trading With Common Sense E-Book.

Short Term Day Trading Stocks Live Online – Learn How

Day trading as a style of trading is a short term style where trades are held for anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours, but are always exited before the end of the trading day.Day trading is a strategy that is very popular among the professional stock traders who are trading stocks online via the internet. Since many stock traders will argue that the risk of carrying an open stock position overnight is greater than closing the position before the end of the trading day, it has become a legitimate strategy to day trade stocks.

In addition, swing traders who are closing a position the very same day that they entered a stock because a stop loss order has triggered, are in fact day trading as well. If you were to define day trading stocks as buying and selling a security on the same day, then many stock market trading strategies that utilize stop loss orders will categorize a this practice as day trading stocks.

Day trading in stocks is both risky and difficult. Please consult your financial advisor before attempting to trade actively. Day trading equities requires a retail account balance of at least $25,000 and must remain at or above this level to trade stocks actively.

Here is the video on Youtube:

A lot times we buy products we do not need or use a service we could do without simply because the commercial was interesting or the person was convincing enough for us to try it out. This also happens in other arenas like forex trading, where people watch videos of supposed investors claiming to have made a killing in their investments within a day or two. Or maybe that they earned a $1000 return on a investment of $100 they made. All these might sound nice, but are they for real? This is a question every investor needs to ask themselves and the answer, unfortunately, is usually no, they are not. Even if they were partially true, the traders will have to make use of high technology software to keep them abreast of all the changes happening in the market. This software could make the investor shell out hundreds of dollars but might not work for everyone and so better to stay way from such false leads. These are merely tricks to get one to invest in the forex market or try their hand at forex day trading system. Even though the amount invested is small and the deal is closed before the end of the day, this is not something recommended to first time traders.

Forex day trading system is where the person makes a deal and closes the account before the end of the day and so no stock is carried over. They can make multiple bets on mini lots throughout the day and place stop orders whenever they feel there is going to be a change in the market. This way they are assured of good returns and risk factor is next to nil. It is advised that a person take up one currency pair and trade on it and this way they can move on to other pairs as they gain experience. If they were to blindly jump into forex trading and start with forex day trading system, they will only come out upset and depressed because of the losses that they have incurred.

Since forex is a market that works around the clock, all 24 hours of the day, people have the choice of making an investment whenever they are ready for it. If it is night in USA, the investor can take a call and place a purchase order for a currency in the other corner of the world where it is still day time. And by the time the day comes to an end there, he can end the deal and close it. A person can either trade during the busy hours of the day or during after office hours. But whatever methodology they adopt they must do a risk analysis and calculate the expected returns before investing. This will give them a heads up on how much they can put into the next lot. This is almost like a rotating of funds available, as they keep investing, earning and putting it into another lot but with a sensible thought process.

Options trading is much like stock and bond trading. Trading strategies can range from a simple buy and hold to a highly advanced use of technical analysis. Then there is everything in between. Although options trading may be similar to stock and bond trading, there are some distinctions that make options a desirable investment opportunity.

They are a contract that confers the right to buy which is a call option, or sell, a put option an instrument. This instrument could be a stock or bond, but the instrument is sold at a predetermined price which is referred to as the strike price, on or before an expiration date.

Options that may be exercised at anytime prior to the expiration are referred to as American options. European options, on the other hand, are exercised precisely on the expiration date. Although the terms refer to regional or geographical implications, the exact association or meaning has been long forgotten through the passage of time. Still, American style options are written for stocks and bonds while European options are generally written on indexes.

When options expire, they do so on the Saturday following the third Friday of the expiration month that is on the contract. Investors will be hard pressed to find a broker who is available on a Saturday, plus, the US exchanges are closed. These factors force that expiration day to be pushed up on day – The Friday before the expiration.

When determining a selling strategy for an option, there are two choices. The holder can keep the option until its maturity date or expiration date, or they can sell before the expiration date. For ease of understanding, this information will pertain to American options only.

Most investors do hold their options until the mature then they trade the underlying asset. Say the buyer purchased a call option at $2 on a stock with a strike price of $25. Options contracts are typically set on 100 share lots. Therefore, in order to purchase the stock, the total investment is:

($2 + $25) x 100 = $2700 (Ignoring commissions.)

This strategy works as long as the market price remains above $27.

If the investor speculates that there is a peak in the price before the expiration date; if the price has risen above $27 but appears to be on the decline with no hope of recovering then it is preferable to sell.

On the other hand, if the market price is below the strike price and the option’s expiration date is near or the price is expected to decline further, then it would also be a desirable condition for selling. In this case, it is best to sell before the price falls any lower to curb any further loss. The loss can be minimized, however, by using it to offset capital gains taxes.

Of course, another alternative is to allow the contract to expire. Options are not like futures. The investor is under no obligation to buy an asset or sell it; they only have the right to do so. When taking into account the premium, strike price and current market price, it may yield a more minimal loss for the investor to simply “eat the premium.”

It should be noted that options do still carry a certain degree of risk. These uncertainties are the same as are associated with stocks. In reality, stock prices can rise or fall, a little or a lot and show erratic, unpredictable behavior over fluctuating time frames, but, these risks are exacerbated with the fact that, like bonds, options have an expiration date.

The reality is that the price of the option itself may change over the passage of time. The contracts are traded just like stocks or bonds and both the price of the underlying stock amount and the amount of time left until the expiration date are both influential factors in the rate and amount of change.

A way to offset the premium loss or even profit is to sell the option but not the underlying asset.

What a day trader does is he restricts his investments to a day. This means that whatever he buys on the day he sells on the same day. The philosophy is there is hardly any chance of a stocks hitting rock bottom over the space of a day.

So even if there are losses, it will be marginal. Of course, the profits are also limited since stocks get hardly the time to gain value in just a day. Of course there are exceptions when stocks plummet or shoot-up in hours. But those are generally irregularities.

However there are a few issues with day trading. First of all, when someone invests on the stock market there is generally a hope for high returns. Day trading runs counter to that philosophy. Of course you can make high profits even in day trading but for that you will need huge capital where you can pump in money to buy rising stocks, and then sell them at the end of the day when the stocks have gone higher. It is the number of stocks you buy that makes the most difference and not the change in the price of the stock.

Also day traders discount the history and performance of a stock. When a day trader buys stock in a particular company, he will try to buy the ones which have shown profit in the recent past. But it might happen that on the day he bought the stock it showed a marginal decrease.

There is every promise for the stock to again gain momentum and go up. But the day trader has to sell the stock cause as a day trader you cannot hold on to any stock at the end of the day. So while you were almost certain of profit over a period of time, you end up making a loss just because of the weird way day trading works.

The basics of system trading is quite simple. What you need to do is fix certain parameters on when to buy a stock and when to let it go. It is like a guide book that you follow by the word. Now these parameters should be made based on a lot of research and inputs from successful traders.

Once you have it ready, your emotions play little role in the trading. You now know exactly when to buy and when to sell. And this is where system trading brings some sense to the erratic trading of amateurs who are into online trading.

One investment opportunity that is much misunderstood is what is called day trading. It can be option day trading, or day trading for regular stock issues rather than options. Either way the name comes from the fact that the transactions take place usually within the time frame of one day. As a matter of fact, many of the transactions take place in a matter of minutes.

It was the introduction of ECN’s, Electrical Communications Networks, and their acceptance by the SEC, The United States Security and Exchange Commission, that opened the door to day trading as it is practiced today. In the past, it was the way the Stock Exchange operated that restricted day trading, as a certain amount of time was required to process transactions on the floor of the Stock Exchange.

Day trading is a wide and diverse investment opportunity, and its reception by the more traditionalist in the financial world has been somewhat mixed. Often viewed as more gamblers than investors, day traders have been reviled by some. On the other hand, some are giving day traders credit for helping to stabilize the market.

One thing is certain. Day trading carries a great deal of risk. So much so, that brokers are required to issue risk warnings to potential investors before allowing them to engage in day training. Individual investors are generally required to maintain a $25,000 minimum balance in their accounts.

Day Traders use several methods to make investment decisions. Trend following is one of them. Trend following is based on the assumption that stocks that are rising will continue to rise, and stocks that are falling will continue to fall. The day trader makes his buy early in the day, and sells at the end of the day, taking the day’s rise as profit.

Another method used by day traders is called Range Trading. The idea here is that stocks have certain points that when reached cause the stock price to drop. Traders have knowledge of this range level, and use it to guide purchase or sale decisions.

Some Traders use a method known as “Playing the News.” This method is simply keeping up with news that might impact the price of a stock. There is usually a delay in between the announcement of financial news, and the reaction of individual stocks to the news. The news can be good and cause stocks to rise, or bad, and cause them to fall, but the day trader acts quicker than the market.

Another method is called shorting. In this type of trading, stocks are borrowed from a broker, and sold. The trader is expecting the stocks to fall during the day, and at the end of the day, he buys them back at the lower price, repays the broker, and pockets the profit.

All of these various trading strategies depend on the ability to make trades in volume, and to make them quickly. This was not possible in the days before the internet became so wide spread, and the ECNs were established. Today, online option trading allows transactions to be made with the stroke of a keyboard, and this has fueled the rise of day trading.
